Just like Indian Civil Services, the Haryana government also has its own civil services and just like ICS, HCS also has its own recruitment exam, The Haryana Civil Services Exam is conducted by The Haryana Public Service Commission once every year to fill up the vacancies in the following posts:

  • Excise and taxation officer
  • Block Development and Panchayat Officer
  • Traffic Manager
  • Food and Supplies Controller
  • Food and Supplies Officer
  • Assistant Employment officer

HCS Exam Pattern:

HCS is a competitive exam consisting of 3 stages:

  1. Preliminary
  2. Mains
  3. Interview

When choosing the optional subject, these things have to be kept in mind:

  • The candidate can choose only one of the literature subjects.
  • The candidate can choose only one of the engineering subjects.
  • Political science and public administration should not be chosen together.
  • Agriculture and Veterinary Science should not be chosen together.

Eligibility Criteria:

AGE:

The age of the candidate applying should be between 21 and 40 years of age as of 1st January of the year of examination

Relaxation is given in following cases:

  • SC and OBC candidates of Haryana are given a relaxation of 5 years.
  • Un-married female candidates are given a relaxation of 5 years.
  • Employees of Haryana Government or Punjab and Haryana High court or any other court in the state of Haryana with 4 years of service.
  • Women who are separated from their husbands or widowed.

For the post of DSP the age should be between 21 and 27 years.

Education:

The candidate appearing for HCS Exam should have a degree from a recognized college or University.
